Removal of the fan

The first step is to remove the complimentary parts such as the filter, fan, electrical housing and the light housing from the range hood vent that you want to install. After that, ensure that the hole located on the top side of your hood is open.

Make an outline

The second step involves outlining of the part of the ceiling where you want to mount your range hood vent. You can achieve this by holding up the vent then using a market to outline its dimensions. In some cases, you might to need to make the same corresponding outline on the upper side of the cabinet.

Drilling of holes

Using the outline that you had created, drill holes in all of corners of the outline ready for the mounting process. A reciprocating saw should help you cut easily from one hole to another. For the outline that you made on top of the cabinet, you should repeat the hole drilling process until they are all perfect. You should then drill a hole on your ceiling board where the electric cable will pass through. Remember, the hole should be of the same size as the one on the knockout outline for easier pulling of the electric cable once the process is over.

Make a hole on the roof

Once you have made a path on the ceiling, the next step is to create one on the roof that will see the range hood vent reach outside. This a process that many people perceives to be hard but with little accuracy, you can achieve greatness by yourself. First, you need to choose a location on your roof that is not further from the path you have made on your ceiling and drill an equally sized hole. If possible, rely on the hole that you made first to create the second. Tools that are more diverse may be needed at this stage especially if you have a roof with a different design from the normal.

Join the parts of the hood

After creating the paths where the hood vent will pass through, the next step is to join all of its parts in place ready for the actual installation process. Remember to install the cable clamp and hold it in place (you might need a hand on this

Installing of the best vent hoods

After ducting the joints of the hood in place strongly, the next step is to install the hood in place. Pass the upper side of the hood through the holes that you made and fit it in place. At this stage, the most important thing is to ensure that you duct the hood properly to avoid possible leaking and prevent the parts from falling off. However, you should be careful not to obstruct the damper in the hood with the duct tape. The damper should move freely at all times for better effectiveness of the hood vent.

Sealing the upper parts of the best hood

After putting the best hood vent in place, you should then seal the ducting that goes through the ceiling. I personally find this stage challenging but with a bit of focus I always get it right in the end. I usually put the duct flashing in a position where it can easily pass through the flange. Use roofing tar to seal the parts effectively and complete the installing process. The joints located between the flashing and the duct should be sealed using roofing tar. Finally, you should place a vent cap over the duct of the hood vent to prevent unwanted objects from passing through it.

Complete the process

If there was a fan unit install before, place it back carefully by reconnecting the wires matching each of their colors. Use wire nuts to cover your connections and once you are sure about your re-connections, turn on the power. Clean the tools and return them to their respective places of storage.
